The Utah Department of Transportation is working on an environmental impact statement studying the Little Cottonwood Canyon Corridor in order to make improvements needed for traffic congestion.
Senate Bill 136 was passed this March, allowing counties to impose a quarter-cent sales tax for transportation funding. Salt Lake County passed an ordinance stating that if a collective of cities and townships making up 67 percent% of the county’s population show support for the tax, it will be imposed this summer.
The move is expected to stop Sandy from being a “training ground” city for officers in the valley.
