American West Chamber Singers Spring Concert
Featuring Michael Haydn's Requiem and Choral Music Celebrating Spring
The American West Chamber Singers will be performing another exciting and varied program of choral music, featuring Michael Haydn's very moving Requiem, written in Salzburg in 1771 for the funeral Mass of Archbishop Sigismund Count Schrattenbach and less than one year after the tragic death of Haydn's ten-month old daughter. It is said that the young Mozart and his father attended the service and that it served as a model for Mozart's own Requiem. Guest soloists will be from Westminster College Department of Music. Other works on the program include choral music celebrating Spring. Accompanying the singers will be pianist Donna Johnson.
