The Sandy Police Citizens Academy is an 11-week program. It is a comprehensive and inter-active class designed to give citizens and business leaders in Sandy City a first-hand experience of the responsibilities and duties of police officers.

Things to expect during the Citizens Academy: Overview of the Sandy Police Department, Hiring process and training, Introduction to law enforcement, General Laws and procedures, Crime Scene Investigation, Death Investigation, Traffic Investigation, Firearms, SWAT, Building Clearing, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Defensive Tactics and Handcuffing

Must be at least 18 years old and able to pass a criminal background check. Applicants must complete enrollment forms. There is no cost to the academy if you are selected to attend.
