Everyone remembers the joy of childhood dreams…where we would like to go, what we would like to do, and what we wanted to become. These are the dreams that dancers from South Valley Creative Dance will share at their annual concert on May 14.

Performing to live narration of J.P. Mattott's "When I Was a Girl…I Dreamed," the dancers will share this story of a grandmother as she reflects on her childhood dreams. Some of these include becoming a teacher, a deep sea diver and the inventor of a robot maid!

According toTami Redd Knubel (or Miss Tami as the dancers call her), this year's book has been especially inspiring to the children.

"The illustrations in this particular book have been a magical part of the choreographic inspiration for the dancers. Mark Ludy truly brings ideas to life through the detail he uses in his art," Knubel said. "It is always exciting to observe the teachers as they guide the children through the creative process in choreography. Having extensive backgrounds in modern dance, ranging from university instructors to former members of Repertory Dance Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, they know very well how to make the process educational and fun."

The grandmother will be performed by Susan Nelson Williams. Miss Sue is a former member of the Utah Civic Ballet (now Ballet West) and also won a choreographic scholarship with Alwin Nikolais.

The performance will be Friday, May 14, 7 p.m. at Murray High School. For tickets call 801-576-0090 or purchase at the door.
