Dr. Roundy Business Spotlight

Taking care of your teeth is very important and no one knows this better than Dr. Evan Roundy. Since 1986, Evan has been practicing the latest techniques on his patients in his Cottonwood Heights office at 7138 South Highland Drive. Earlier this year, he brought on a new doctor to assist with his patients - his son Dr. Aaron Roundy.

Staying up to date on the latest techniques in dentistry can be challenging but Evan makes it a priority to keep his staff highly educated so they can provide the best dental experience tailored to each patient's needs. Aaron says the techniques he learned over the last four years at the University of Maryland, Baltimore are the same techniques his dad is already using.

One of the latest techniques is implant dentistry, which replaces missing teeth, but more importantly, restores a quality of life the Roundys' patients may have been missing. According to the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, dentists who offer implants are highly trained in how to do them correctly.

Taking care of your teeth means more than just brushing and flossing, Evan says. According to the American Dental Association, oral health has a direct relationship with overall health and patients with gum disease are more likely to have more serious medical problems such as diabetes, heart disease and other life threatening conditions.

"You have to take care of your teeth and we want people to know how important it is to their overall health," Evan says.

Evan chose his Cottonwood Heights office location because it's in his neighborhood and he's able to walk to work. Because he works on his neighbors and friends, he wants their experience in his office to be the best it can be, which is why he is careful to hire the best staff he can. Kristen, his hygienist who works on Monday and Tuesday, has been with Evan for 15 years and is one of the best he's ever worked with. His other hygienist Susan has been with his practice for the last four years.

Making sure everyone has a comfortable experience is important to Evan and his staff. He says people have a natural aversion to the dentist and his staff is working hard to overcome that fear. Various options are available for patents who are worried about their trip to the dentist, including nitrous oxide and a light sedative, which helps make the procedure more comfortable. Their patients' comfort and satisfaction are their top priorities and something the Roundys take very seriously.

"My dad and I try to build up our patients' trust because we have their best interest at heart," Aaron says.

Roundy Dental offers extended hours Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to serve their patients who work during the day. They are open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
