Quail Hollow Elementary lights up Zions Bank
A sixth grade class at Quail Hollow Elementary recently went to the Zions Bank at 2137 East 9400 South to decorate its tree with handmade ornaments and sing Christmas carols as part of the bank’s 41st annual “Lights On” tree-trimming tradition.
As a longtime member at Zions, Principal Denise Orme was asked if her school would like to do the decorating again for the second year in a row, while conducting business there one day.
“They thought we deserved it because they see our principal on an almost-daily basis,” school secretary Sheri Palmer said in fun. “We’re just such good customers.”
“It was fun to make the ornaments,” Macy Raddon, a student in Teri Cooper’s sixth grade class, said. “We got to choose what we wanted to do, and it was a cool experience.”
Once they finished decorating, a bank employee turned the lights on and the students admired their efforts on the nine-foot tree displayed right in the middle of the bank.
“The boys made mouse ornaments out of Hershey Kisses and the girls made the penguins,” parent helper Allison Raddon said.
Bank employees were happy to see Christmas come to life in their workplace and customers stopped what they were doing to admire the festivities.
Students then gathered together by the tree in their Santa hats to sing Christmas carols to employees, parents and bank customers.
“Rocking Around the Christmas Tree,” “Frosty the Snowman,” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” were a few of the songs they prepared.
“Frosty the Snowman is our best one,” Cooper said. “The kids are so cute and they have had so much fun.”
