Quail Hollow Elementary sixth grade teacher, Julie Overholt, passed away on Dec. 4 while awaiting a liver transplant. Overholt had a passion for education and touched many students’ lives over her 32-year teaching career. She worked for 10 years at Jordan Valley School as a special education teacher and  spent the past 22 years at Quail Hollow teaching both fifth and sixth grade. Overholt’s family described her as “someone who extended grace to everyone, who sought out the good in people and invested her time and energy in things that mattered.” A celebration of her life was held Dec. 9 where those in attendance were encouraged to share a story or memory about her. A sixth grade student of Overholt’s, Annie C., recalled coming in with her mother during ‘volunteer time’ as a toddler and how Overholt always gave her a juice packet. “We loved this because it was so Julie -- always looking out for all kids,” said Quail Hollow Principal Denise Orme.
