When you think of embroidery the first thought that might come to mind is an embroidered “Home is Where the Heart It” pillow sitting on your grandma’s couch. But did you also know that clothes, jewelry and so much more could be used with embroidery? Down at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley, you can see some fantastic embroidery at the Art of the Needle exhibit. All the art has been done by local artists here in Utah and all have a story to tell. Some feature holiday decorations, others art with thread and others jewelry with embroidered decoration.

The exhibit is free and runs between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday or by special arrangement. It’s a nice quiet place to see the many forms of art work and would be a fun event for an embroidery or sewing enthusiast to visit.

The Utah Cultural Celebration Center is in West Valley located at 1355 West 3100 South. The exhibit runs through March 2.
