As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. The same is true for an athlete’s high school career.

Jordan High school baseball player Jackson Rosvall, a senior, has played his final game for the Beetdiggers. Rosvall helped the team to a 17-12 record and a 13-8 region mark, good enough for fourth place in a competitive Region 6. Jordan earned the 11th seed in the Class 5A state tournament where it faced 22nd-seed Roy in the regionals.

Rosvall and the Beetdiggers made quick work of the Royals.

In a best-of-three series on May 9 and 10, Jordan advanced in a two-game sweep. Neither game was close, and Jordan’s offense was on full display both times. In game one, Jordan routed Roy 14-1 in a contest that needed just 4 ½ innings. Rosvall had a big day, hitting a triple and driving in two runs. The following day, Jordan had another lopsided win, this time 12-2. Jordan had seven runs in the second inning alone.

In the super regionals on May 15, the Beetdiggers fell in a pair of games against Orem, 5-1 and 14-3. Jordan’s season came to a close, as did Rosvall’s time in the program. He leaves holding a lot of positive memories. He spoke highly of his teammates and the unity everyone felt.

“The best part about the Jordan team is the bond each and every one of our players have,” he said. “I enjoy spending my time with the team and working hard to become better.”

Inspired by his father, Rosvall has played baseball since he was 8. He has worked hard to become a good hitter and baserunner for Jordan. This past season, he hit a home run, a triple and three doubles. He also drove in nine runs and even had a strikeout in limited time on the mound.

In his senior year, Rosvall kept wanting to improve and contribute to the team. He focused on getting better on defense. He also recognized the importance of the mental aspects of the game. To maintain his composure, he developed a certain habit.

“The most challenging part of the sport is the mental side and keeping your head clear,” he said. “I like to chew gum while I play, it keeps me relaxed and focused.”

Rosvall didn’t achieve one of his goals: winning a state title. However, the Beetdiggers did improve on last season’s 16-14 record. Jordan’s two state tournament wins were big accomplishments for the school.

With his career as a Beetdigger in the books, Rosvall isn’t ready to put down his ball and bat just yet. He hopes to continue playing the game he loves at the next level.

“My future plan for after high school is to play college baseball,” he said.
