Sandy Sisters Participate in National Girl Scout Convention

Sandy sisters Amelia (top) and Abigail (below) Slama-Catron took part in the opening and closing ceremonies at the national Girl Scout convention, held Oct. 16-19 in Salt Lake City. Amelia, an eighth-grader, was selected as flag procession caller. She has been a Girl Scout for nine years and has earned her Silver Award. Abigail, a fourth-grader, was selected to carry the Girl Scout flag and be a member of the dance team. She has been a Girl Scout for four years and is earning her Bronze Award. At the 53rd national convention, more than 6,000 attendees from across the country and around the globe attended workshops put on by newsmakers, leaders, policy makers and celebrities. The theme was “Discover, Connect, Take Action: Girls Change the World.”
