Sandy Senior Center: Events Schedule

May 7, 14, 21, and 28. 9 a.m. — Golf Club. Fore Lakes Course.

The center is open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Transportation is available Monday through Friday for those who live in the area. The cost is a $2 donation; call the center for more information. Most activities require you to sign up in advance.

May 4, 10 a.m.  — Walk with Ease Kick off. Walk with Ease is a six- week low impact fitness program proven to reduce Arthritis pain. The class will begin at Sandy Senior Center Monday, May 11. Attend the kickoff party to learn about the value of participating in this evidenced based program and to register.  Class size is limited so be sure to attend.  Facilitated by Salt Lake County Active Aging and the Arthritis Foundation.

May 7, 14, 21, and 28. 9 a.m.  — Golf Club. Fore Lakes Course. Join this fun loving group on the greens. Meet at the golf course.

May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 9 a.m. — Tennis Club. Bicentennial Park. Join others who like to play tennis for some friendly competition. Meet at the park.  

May, 1, 10 a.m. — Scenic Triangle.  America’s most Scenic Train Trip. On May 1st 1971 the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (AMTRAK) began service. Come for an exciting photo filled route that starts in Utah goes to California, Oregon then Portland and Seattle. 

May, 4, 10 a.m. — Healthy Aging. Find out how to age right with healthy diet and exercise. Learn quick healthy snacks on the go and the best exercises for your heart.

May 9, 11 a.m. — Knee and Shoulder Pain: What to do about it. Do you have knee and shoulder pain? This seminar will discuss what can be done to reduce the pain and discomfort. 

May 6, 10 a.m. — Meditation for Healthy Mind and Body

May 8, 10 a.m. — The Grace in Aging: Silence 

11:30 a.m. —  Mother’s Day Party. Enjoy entertainment by the Salt Lake City Crooners, enjoy a delicious meal and cupcakes Sponsored by CottonWood  Creek Senior Living. Ice Cream Sponsored by your Advisory Council.

May 11, 10 a.m. — Alzheimer’s Risks. Find out if you are at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. What are the 10 warning signs/how it’s diagnosed treatments available. 

May 13, 10:30 a.m. — Law of Attraction. Learn about allowing good things to come your way. 

11:45 a.m. — Tax Relief Help. Do you need help with tax relief with your property taxes? Find out about assistance available. 

May 14, 2 p.m. — Parkinson’s Support Group. Dr. Kevin Walker will be discussing sleep disorders and wellness for Parkinson’s patients.

10:30 a.m. — Language of Thankfulness-NLP Wed, May 14th @ 10:30/206. Learn how to be thankful and reap the benefits. 

May 18, 10 a.m. — Vital Aging: Self Esteem. Discover your sources of personal well-being, self-strengthening beliefs and optimistic views. Creating and achieving personal goals.

10 a.m. — Origins of Memorial Day. On May 5, 1868 General John Logan declared Memorial Day would be the day for decorating the graves of the comrades lost in war. Find out the history behind the holiday and why we celebrate it. At the end of the presentation the Highland Bagpiper will perform. Door prize given. 

11:30 a.m. — Early Memorial Day Celebration. Celebrate the holiday early with a delicious meal and entertainment by Mac Chesley and a special treat sponsored by Legacy. 

May 19, 9:15 a.m. — FREE Hand Massages. Get a free relaxing hand massage, learn how to do a hand massage and learn the benefits of massages. Sign up needed.

May 20, 10 a.m. — Advanced Directives.  Lawyer Kathie Roberts and colleagues discuss the Utah AD packet, HIPPA, and Health care. Get assistance in completing applications. 

May 21, 10 a.m. — Strength Training with Sandy Health and Rehab. Join Physical Therapist Steve, practice safe and healthy weight training. Meet in Center Gym.

May 29, 10 a.m. — Food $ense Nutrition. Learn healthy, quick and easy recipes while staying on a budget. The group will discuss dietary guidelines.
