Historically, Quad Wednesdays began years ago when Brighton installed the first quad chair in the area. To celebrate, Brighton offered 4 tickets for the price of 1. But it quickly turned to chaos.
Skiers would plunk down their money wanting just 1 ticket at one-forth the price. But the computers were programmed to spit out 4 tickets. Mountain volunteers frantically tried to match up groups of 4 people to divvy up the 4-ticket package.
Even that was chaotic. Some had cash. Some wanted to use a credit card. Groups of 4 people had their own problem figuring out how to pay within the group.
Since then, Quad Wednesdays have kept the name, but now it's win-win. Bring a nice donation and ski or ride for $20.
