What’s hatchin’ at Glacier Hills?

Jun 11, 2026 01:03PM ● By Julie Slama

Things have been egg-sploding at Glacier Hills Elementary.  Students have been watching chicks and quail hatch in their classrooms, turning science lessons into egg-stra cute peep shows. Kindergartners, chirping egg-statically, drew shell-ebrating scenes of baby quail chicks pecking their way into the world, while older students, cracking in curiosity, scrambled to ask questions whether their chicks will be male or female, how they get their colors and even how they absorb the yolk before hatching. With every crack and chirp and fluffy arrival, Glacier Hills students, with im-peck-able egg-citement, are proving hands-on learning is egg-ceptional. (Julie Slama/City Journals)
